3 cars go up in flames as short circuit sparks fire in transformer

GURGAON: Three cars were gutted after a Tata Safari caught fire as sparks flew from a transformer in Sector 15 on Tuesday night.
The sparks appeared to have caused by a short-circuit in it, according to fire officials. No casualties were reported.
A fire official, Dinesh Kumar at Bhim Nagar station, said, “We received information on the fire around 11pm and our teams reached the spot. We found three cars burning and it took roughly an hour to douse the flames. No injuries were reported.”
An eye witness said a ball of fire from the transformer fell on a parked SUV around 10.50pm. Upon catching fire, the eyewitness added, the car began to move on the street where it rammed into two other parked vehicles — a Hyundai I-20 and a Honda City— which also caught fire after the collision.
Locals said they informed the fire department about the incident, after which fire engines were sent to the scene.
According to officials, by the time the fire was doused, the three vehicles went up in flames. The Tata Safari was left completely charred while the other two vehicles were partially burnt.
