Fire destroys three godowns in Chhawni

Indore: A massive fire broke out in a godown in Chhawni locality of Indore on Tuesday morning, which spread to two more nearby godowns destroying jute sacks and other assets worth lakhs of rupees.
Fire SP RS Nigwal said that the fire broke out in a godown owned by one Govind Agarwal at 3.30 am on Tuesday and spread rapidly in the area because of 900 boxes of jute sacks and other combustible material stored inside.
The fire spread to two more nearby godowns owned by Mahendra Agarwal and Jitu Singhal and charred the items stored inside.
Singhal had stocked coriander powder in it.
The police said that there was a small power house near the godown and they suspect that the fire was triggered because of a short circuit.
SP Nigwal said that the fire was doused after several hours at 9 am and an additional tender was stationed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
