Fire breaks out at Chengalpet GH

Chennai: A fire broke out at Chengalpet government hospital, where several patients were evacuated early on Wednesday. The fire broke out from an air conditioner in the ophthalmic ward.
An employee noticed the fire while he was cleaning the room. Soon, it spread to the computer, printer and other equipment, which were also damaged.
Ten patients were evacuated from the hospital premises.
The Chengalpet fire and rescue department brought the fire under control. The Chengalpet Town police who visited the spot investigated and found that a short circuit in the air conditioner was the reason for the fire. Police have registered a case and said further investigation is on.
