Fire breaks out in basement of 4-storey building at Andheri East in Mumbai

MUMBAI: A fire broke out in a basement of a four-storey commercial building at SEEPZ in Andheri East in Mumbai, on Wednesday midnight. Two security guards who were stranded on the second floor of the building due to heavy smoke were safely rescued by firemen using a ladder.
After receiving the information about the fire, as many as 12 fire engines, eight jumbo water tankers, one quick response vehicle and two rescue vans were deployed to the site.
According to BMC’s disaster management department, fire was confined to the cardboard stocks in different compartments and other stored materials in a part of the basement area approximately measuring around 2,000-3,000 sq ft area of the ground plus upper four floored building.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
