4 children perish in Quezon fire; fire hits Valenzuela City factory

Four young children, the youngest less than two years old, perished in a fire that hit their house in Quezon province Friday night.
The fire occurred at 9 p.m. in Barangay Bulakin 1 in Dolores town, GMA news stringer Peewee Bacunio reported Saturday.
While the report withheld the children’s names at relatives’ request, it described the fatalities as aged 8, 6, 4, and one year and five months.
An elder sibling aged 13 survived the fire after running out of the house to seek neighbors’ help.
An initial investigation showed the fire started at about 9 p.m. and may have stemmed from a lighted candle that was left unattended and tipped over.
Police are verifying information that the children’s parents were out in the market selling their wares when the fire happened.
The house was made of light materials.
