Fire at residential building in Thane; none hurt

THANE: A fire broke out in the meter room of a residential building in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Friday, following which 150 people were rescued from the structure, a civic official said.
No casualties were reported in the blaze that broke out in a building in Dharamveer Nagar area around 1pm, said Yasin Tadvi, the disaster control officer of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).
Local firemen and RDMC team rushed to the spot and put out the fire in two hours, he said.
At least 150 people were evacuated from the eight-storey building, he said, adding that 90 electricity meters were destroyed in the blaze, the cause of which is being probed.
