RUDRAPUR: A massive fire swept through a prominent four-storey building located on the Nainital highway in Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur on Monday evening.
The building housed IndusInd Bank, Hotel Masala Town, and a wine shop.
Four people were injured in the fire, which was brought under control after fire brigade vehicles arrived.
Survivor Mohit Sharma, who was present in his office on the second floor at the time of the incident, said, “Around 5.30 pm, the fire erupted suddenly, rapidly engulfing the entire building. Amidst the chaos, I heard a blast and somehow managed to escape by locating an alternate exit.”
Although the fire has been contained, the structure has suffered extensive damage, reducing it to ruins.
The building owner and other stakeholders are currently assessing the losses incurred.
In the meantime, officials from the fire department have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
