Bus gutted in fire in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam

VIJAYAWADA: A private bus was gutted in a fire accident that took place on the National Highway-16 near K Bitragunta under Jarugumalli Mandal in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of Thursday.
However, there were no casualties reported.
The incident took place around 2am when the private bus, carrying 27 passengers, was travelling from Hyderabad to Puducherry.
The driver noticed the smoke emanating from the rear side of the bus and he alerted the passengers, who were asleep.
The passengers managed to get off from the bus even before the fire spread to the entire bus. However, the luggage belonging to passengers in the bus was completely burnt in the fire.
Based on the information by a passerby, the fire service personnel went to the spot and doused the fire.
The incident has led to traffic chaos on the stretch. The police said that all the passengers in the bus were safe in the incident and an investigation is on to ascertain the reasons for the fire.
