Fire in Valenzuela plastics warehouse put out after nearly 9 hours
Updated: 2012-07-19-11:14
After nearly nine hours, firefighters finally put out a fire that razed the facilities of a plastics firm in Valenzuela City Thursday.
City fire marshal Superintendent Jose Ilagan said the fire was declared out at 10:50 a.m., several hours after the fire started at 2:05 a.m.
“Nag-declare tayo ng fire out 10:50. Wala nang danger na nakikita sa kapaligiran,” Ilagan said in an interview on dzBB radio.
The fire had reached Task Force Alpha, with firefighters having a hard time getting to the site due to narrow and rough roads, radio dzBB’s Allan Gatus reported.
Ilagan said they are verifying information the fire may have started from machinery that overheated when left running overnight.
“Meron silang overtime kagabi,” he said.
He also said they have initially estimated the damage to property at P2 million. — RSJ, GMA News
