Fire erupts at foam factory; no casualty

THANE: A major fire broke out at a foam mattress manufacturing unit in Anand Nagar MIDC in Ambernath on Wednesday. The fire lasted for three hours, damaging around 60% of the factory.
A team of fire brigade officials was rushed to control the fire which started at around 5.30pm at Dashmesh Foam Manufacturing company, said a fire personnel. Sources said some 30 company staffers were inside the unit when the fire broke out, but they all managed to escape before the blaze engulfed a major portion of the factory. The staffers later alerted the fire brigade.
Bhagwat Sonawane, chief fire brigade officer, Ambernath fire brigade, said, “It took three hours to control the fire and around 60% of unit is gutted. The cause of the fire is not yet known but probe is on.”
