Three homes were destroyed in a fire on Huanhe N. Road in Taipei late Sunday night, and rescue workers are yet to confirm whether anyone is trapped in the debris, the Taipei City Fire Department said Monday.
Taipei firefighters responded to a fire alarm at Huanhe N. Road Section 2 at 11:32pm on Sunday evening, and at 00:13am on Monday morning extinguished a fire that had spread through three neighboring wood-and-brick bungalows, the department said.
The houses on the left and right were known to be empty, but the home in the middle was believed to have an elderly resident who lived alone, it said, adding that rescue crew were searching the debris to confirm whether the resident was trapped inside.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, it said.
