Fire ravages mattress factory

Noida: A massive fire ripped through a mattress factory in Sector 81 on Monday . Nearly 500 employees were present on the premises when the blaze started, but all were evacuated, police said.
Thirty fire engines were pressed into action to douse the fire. Some of the fire engines were called in from neighbouring Ghaziabad, Hapur and Meerut. The police have reported no loss of life.
“The fire broke out on the second floor of the two-storeyed factory. Prima facie, the fire appears to have started from a short circuit,” CFO Pradeep Chaubey told TOI.
When the fire erupted 400-500 employees were present, but they were all safely evacuated”, Chaubey said.
“However, they managed to rush out before the blaze spread. So far, there is no information about any person trapped inside the factory so far and the cooling down process is underway, “the CFO said. However, goods worth several lakhs was damaged.
“The building has a basement and ground floor, where we managed to control the flames,” stated Chaubey.
