Hospital gets AMC notice after fire

AHMEDABAD: On Monday, a day after a major fire broke out in the basement of the Rajasthan Hospitals, the civic body issued a show-cause notice to the hospital. The estate department of the AMC’s central zone has ordered the hospital administration to respond to the notice in three days.
A short circuit in the basement of the Rajasthan Hospitals building in Shahibaug sparked a major fire on Sunday morning. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. In all, 106 patients were shifted to other hospitals and a community centre as a precautionary measure. The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) had to deploy 31 firefighting vehicles and more than 100 personnel to control the fire.
After a short circuit, the furniture and other inflammable materials stored in the second level basement had caught fire. The notice says the basement floors are meant for parking and cannot be used for storage.
