8 shops gutted in fire at Gurgaon furniture market

GURGAON: A major fire broke out at a furniture market in Gurgaon’s Sector 47, resulting in the complete destruction of eight shops, police said on Monday.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, prompting the immediate response of more than a dozen fire tenders. After several hours of relentless efforts, the firefighters managed to bring the raging blaze under control, a senior fire department officer said.
The fire originated in one of the shops situated opposite the Good Earth Mall. Tragically, the inferno engulfed eight establishments, causing a substantial loss of furniture worth over Rs 60 lakh.
Prima facie, a short circuit seems to be the reason behind the fire, but a probe has been launched to ascertain the exact cause, the officer said.
