Fire breaks out at shoemaking unit

NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at a shoe-manufacturing factory in Udyog Nagar on Sunday. No one was reported injured.
Atul Garg, director, Delhi Fire Services , said the factory did not have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from them.
The fire department said they received a call about the fire at 9.35 am. A video showed thick smoke billowing from the manufacturing unit. As many as 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was controlled by 12.50 pm, said officials.
Officials are probing whether a short circuit was the reason behind the incident.
Garg said a tin shed on the third floor of the shoe manufacturing unit had caught fire. “The building comprises a basement, ground floor, plus three floors, with an area of about 1,100 square yards. No casualties were reported,” he said.
