Fire in departmental store destroys goods worth lakhs

Mohali: A departmental store was destroyed in a fire at MS Enclave in Dhakoli, Zirakpur, on Thursday.
Pramod Kumar Mangala, the owner, said he closed his shop on Wednesday as usual and went home. In the morning, he received information that smoke was billowing out of the shop.
When he reached the spot, flames had engulfed his entire shop. He informed the fire brigade. Three of its vehicles brought the blaze which had also spread to an adjoining shop under control in three hours.
The shop owner said goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes. Fire officer Jaswant Singh said preliminary investigation has indicated the fire started due to an electrical short circuit.
