Truck catches fire after tyre burst on eway

Nagpur: A truck carrying chemicals from Mumbai to a paint factory in Nagpur caught fire after its tyre burst on Samruddhi Expressway at around 12.30am on Friday.
“The driver and cleaner escaped unhurt. Highway police and firefighters responded quickly and prevented major incident on the six-lane expressway,” highway police SP Yashwant Solanke told TOI.
At around 12.30am, the truck loaded with chemicals required for paint manufacturing was coming to Nagpur. “On the way, front tyre of the truck burst. The speeding vehicle continued to slide on the naked wheels causing sparks that ignited fire. Soon the flames engulfed the entire truck as fire spread instantly because of the combustible chemicals,” said the SP.
As the burning vehicle came to a halt, driver and cleaner managed to get down and flee the scene.
After dousing the fire, highway patrol police removed the truck from middle of the road to clear the expressway for other vehicles. TNN
