Five women rescued from fire in Magong
Updated: 2023-08-08
Police and fire officials take statements from residents of a building that caught fire Tuesday morning in Penghu’s Magong City.
Firefighters rescued five women after a fire broke out at a temple in Penghu County’s Magong City on Tuesday morning.
The Penghu County Fire Department responded to the fire after receiving a report at 2:10am, and brought the fire under control within 10 minutes, it said.
Officials said the fire started on the second floor of a seven-story building on Magong’s Sincun Rd. that houses a temple and residential units, and appears to have been caused by a malfunctioning water dispenser.
Five women living on the fifth floor of the building were rescued by firefighters, and did not sustain injuries in the fire.
Officials said the exact cause of the accident would be determined following an investigation.
