Mumbai: 65-year-old man dies after fire breaks out in flat of Santacruz building

MUMBAI: A 65-year-old man lost his life in a fire that broke out in his flat on the sixth floor of a building in Mumbai’s Santacruz on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Nitesh Joshi, was pronounced dead at Cooper Hospital.
A senior citizen couple was rescued by the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
The woman suffered suffocation and was stable after she was brought down, the man was brought dead, the fire brigade officials said
The fire, believed to have been triggered by a short circuit, erupted at around 3.45pm.
The fire was confined to the sixth floor of the ground-plus-seven-storey Haripreet Building opposite Podar School in Santacruz West.
The fire brigade brought out the couple by donning the breathing apparatus through the staircase.
