Of the educational institution, Gustilo said, “Seeing this iconic building ablaze saddens me so much, just like all of us. It has long been the city’s mighty edifice for decades, that resembled as a great institution of quality Christian Education that shaped thousands of lives.”
“The building may have fallen, but the values and teachings remain, as its true foundation are those who passionately impart their knowledge to every students who seek to learn, and want to build a better future. Let us have faith and hope for Colegio De Sta. Rita to continue to bring better education for all. CSR will rise again!” he added.
The school, which is being managed by Augustinian Recollect sisters, has been operating since the 1930s.
The San Carlos City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office requested motorists to clear the main roads and interior streets leading to the school to give way to emergency responders.
Meanwhile, the CSR San Carlos City Student Council posted an announcement made by the Dean of Colleges.
“Classes will be cancelled tomorrow (Aug. 15, 2023), and please be patient until any further notice is released. In the meantime, we ask you to, at least, dedicate a portion of your time to send your prayers and support to the AR Sisters, faculty and staff, and to each and every one of us,” the school official said.
“Through His Grace and the intercession of St. Rita, all will be well in time. We move forward still, Ritarians. With One Mind, One Heart, Onward to the Lord!” — BAP, GMA Integrated News
