Car gutted in fire in Thane, 2 occupants escape unhurt

THANE: A high-end car caught fire and was reduced to ashes in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday morning.
Two occupants of the car had a narrow escape during the incident, reported news agency PTI quoting a civic official.
According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the car was approaching the lobby area of a building when it caught fire suddenly.
“Two occupants of the vehicle managed to jump out of it in time and both of them are safe,” he said.
“Fire brigade and RDMC personnel rushed to the spot and the fire was doused. But the car got reduced to ashes by that time. The cause of the fire is being investigated,” the official added.
