Mother, two minor children charred to death in fire in J&K’s Ramban

JAMMU: Three people — a mother and her two minor children — were charred to death while two others of a family were critically injured when fire engulfed three huts they were staying in at village Bingara in Hummer Gali of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir on late Wednesday night.
Police said, “The deceased have been identified as Najma Begum (25), wife of Ibrahim, and her daughters Iqra Banoo (2) and Assma Banoo (6).”
“Najma’s husband Ibrahim (30) and his mother-in-law Mirja Begum (55) suffered serious burn injuries and were shifted to a Public Health Centre in Ukheral,” police said.
Police have registered a case.
Deputy commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam wrote on his X platform: “#HamerGaliFire incident Update: Dist Admin response swift! Relief operations in full swing – legal heir certificates, SDRF & Red Cross aid processed on site. Relief supplies en route.”
Meanwhile, Union minister Jitendra Singh has expressed shock over the incident. Dr Singh posted on X: “Saddened to learn about accidental fire in three temporary huts in village Bingara, Hummer Dhok.
