1 dead in Quezon fire

LUCENA CITY, Philippines – A man was killed while 15 houses were destroyed when a fire broke out in a residential area in Purok Agawin, Barangay Ibabang Dupay here Sunday night.
Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon identified the fatality as Alvin Edus Melendres, 26.
De Leon said the fire started on the second floor of the house owned by a certain Edgardo Veloria.
Investigation showed that Melendres’ house was already covered with smoke, when he tried to retrieve important documents downstairs.
Another fire broke out in Purok San Francisco, Barangay Ibabang Dupay at around 9 a.m. yesterday. Ten houses were destroyed.
