Three residents of a terrace house off Upper Changi Road East had to be rescued by firefighters from the upper floors of their home which caught fire on Friday morning.
As black smoke belched out, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers propped a ladder against the house at 153 Seagull Avenue and helped a woman and a year-old child from the third floor to safety. Another woman was rescued from the second floor.
A fire engine, a red rhino, two firebikes, two ambulances and a support vehicle were at the scene within seven minutes of an emergency call placed at 8.16am. The fire was put out in 15 minutes.
SCDF officers who entered the premises afterwards established that the fire had started in the kitchen.
