A three-year-old child died in a fire that hit his family’s house in the Payatas district in Quezon City before dawn Tuesday.
The boy, initially identified as Jun Mark Contado, was sleeping when the fire hit at about 3 a.m., radio dzBB’s Rodil Vega reported.
Quezon City fire Chief Inspector Aristotle Banag was quoted in the report as saying the fire started at 3 a.m. at the victim’s house at 29 Jude Street in Payatas-B.
It reached the first alarm before it was placed under control at 3:25 a.m. The fire spread quickly as the house was made of light materials.
Injured in the fire were the boy’s parents Elmer and Aiza Contado, and his four-year-old sibling. The parents managed to rescue the four-year-old but could not go back for him.
Arson investigators theorized the fire may have started from a candle left unattended, as they noted the house had no electricity. –KG, GMA News
