Two trucks carrying copra to Metro Manila caught fire near a gas station near the Maharlika Highway in Quezon province Sunday morning, police said.
But SPO1 Willy Martinez of the Quezon police said no one was initially reported injured even as firefighters responded quickly to the incident.
“Yung dalawang truck na may kargang copra nakaparada sa Brgy. Calumpang (Tayabas), nasunog mga 7:20 a.m…. Gawa siguro nagkaroon ng pressure ang karga nilang copra,” Martinez said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said that while the trucks were near a gas station when they caught fire, firefighters from Tayabas and Sariaya town rushed to the scene to put out the fire.
An investigation showed the trucks were delivering the copra to Metro Manila when the incident occurred.
Martinez said they are still investigating what caused the trucks to catch fire. — LBG, GMA News
