Fire destroys private godown

KANPUR: A major fire engulfed a godown situated in a house on Tar Bangalia Road in Civil Lines. Though the exact cause could not be known but the firemen stated short-circuit to be the reason for it.
Fire tenders from Colonelganj fire station reached the site. It took firemen nearly an hour to douse the flames. The house belongs to Sonu Kashyap. Panic prevailed in the area. No casualty was reported.
Officer of Colonelganj fire station Ram Babu informed that the flames were controlled with the help of two fire tenders. Everything kept in the house was reduced to ashes.
The gravity of the incident could be gauged from the fact that the firemen could not muster courage to go near the godown when they learnt that an LPG cylinder was kept inside.
