Narrow escape for 3 as car catches fire in Karnataka

MANDYA: Three car passengers had a narrow escape when the Tamil Nadu registered vehicle they were travelling in suddenly caught fire at Gowdahalli near Gananguru toll plaza on the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway 275 on Saturday.
The passengers were travelling to Tamil Nadu from Bengaluru when the incident happened around noon. As soon as they passed the toll plaza, they noticed smoke emitting from the bonnet and got down the vehicle. Within minutes, the car went up in flames before the fire personnel reached the spot.
Police said they rushed to the spot soon after the information about the incident. Fire and emergency services personnel too were pressed into action to douse the fire.
Police said none of the car passengers were injured in the incident as they all came out of the vehicle soon after they noticed smoke emitting from the bonnet. Srirangapatna Rural Police have registered a case into the matter.
