At least 92 families face a bleak Christmas after losing their homes to a fire that hit a depressed area in Parañaque City Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Friday.
In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said 61 houses and P1 million in property were destroyed in the fire that started at 11:30 a.m. at Cul de Sac in Sun valley.
The NDRRMC also said three people suffered minor burns. It identified them as Kim Gangoso, 10; Fred Seriola, 50; and Manuel Arboleda, 4.
An initial investigation showed the fire stemmed from cooking left unattended. The fire reached the second alarm before it was put out at 1:20 p.m.
Earlier, radio dzBB reported several residents tried to save their belongings and tried passing pails of water to try putting out the fire. –KG, GMA News
