Mumbai: Fire breaks out in building in Kurla, over 50 people rescued

MUMBAI: Over 50 residents were rescued from various floors of a 12-storey building in Kurla-west after a fire broke out on Friday night.
The incident took place in a Slum Rehabilitation Authority(SRA) building located opposite Kohinoor Hospital.
According to BMC’s disaster management, the fire was confined to electrical wiring, scrap materials etc in the electrical duct from the ground to the 12th floor of the building.
BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that there were 43 residents who were affected due to suffocation, of which 39 were sent to the civic run Rajawadi hospital and the remaining four were taken to Kohinoor hospital. 29 of these were admitted.
Among those admitted, 10 residents took discharge against medical advice while the condition of the rest is stable.
Those admitted in Kohinoor Hospital were treated and discharged.
The blaze was extinguished by fireman after cutting off the electric supply of the building.
