NAVI MUMBAI: A massive fire erupted at Navbharat Industrial chemical company in Pawane MIDC area on Tuesday around 11 am. The fire spread to the adjacent three industrial units, including a paper manufacturing company, informed Surendra Choudhary, fire officer of Emergency Response Station (ERS) in Pawane MIDC.
Fire Officer Chaudhary said, “As the fire was raging due to the huge stock of chemicals that became fodder for the fire to spread to the adjacent three companies, apart from one fire engine from ERS, we had to summon 12 more fire engines from the fire stations of Rabale MIDC, NMMC’s fire stations at Koparkhairane, CBD and Airoli. Cidco’s bronto skylift had to be used for fire fighting operation, as it was not possible to enter the companies to douse the raging fire. The chemical spilled on the road outside the company and caught fire but we doused the fire and preventing it from reach more companies ahead. No casualties have been reported, as the workers at the chemical companies immediately evacuated.”
