Minor boy charred to death after hut catches fire

Kanpur: In a tragic incident, a three-year-old boy was charred to death when a hut in which he and his siblings were playing with a match-box, caught fire in Araul village of district on Friday afternoon.
Sharing the information, police said that the incident took place at Mohipurwa village under the limits of Araul police station in the afternoon when six-year-old Kajal, her two brothers including five-year-old Balwan and a three-year-old Hanuman, all children of Bahadur Diwakar, were playing with a match-box. “While playing, Kajal threw a burning match stick on the roof of thatched hut. Shortly thereafter, a fire broke out in the hut. Kajal and one of her brothers came out of the hut, but their younger brother got trapped in it and was charred to death,” the police further said.
By the time the villagers reached the spot after seeing the flames and extinguished the fire, the hut was reduced to ashes. The villagers immediately informed the fire department. Subsequently, several fire tenders along with the local police reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
Immediately, sub-divisional magistrate Rashmi Lamba and tehsildar K. Rajput reached the spot and assured financial assistance to the victim Bahadur Diwakar and also provided relief material to the family.
SDM said that the affected family has the benefit of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. However, the family used to live in a hut outside the village due to some family issues. “Help has also been sought from the government for their financial assistance. All possible help was provided to the family,” she said further.
ADCP West Vijendra Dwivedi also reached the spot and took note of the situation.
