PATNA: At least six people, including three women, were charred to death and 13 others injured after a massive blaze engulfed a hotel near Patna railway station on Thursday following suspected cylinder blasts.
It took 51 fire brigades nearly two hours to douse the flames in the four-storey Pal Hotel after the gas leak in the kitchen on the ground floor. The teams rescued 41 people with the help of cranes.
Only two of those who perished could be identified so far, officials said. One was a hotel staffer, Dinesh Singh (50), and the other Raj Lokkhi, a guest from Purulia in neighbouring Bengal.
Of the 13 admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital with burn injuries, two are critical, Patna SP Chandra Prakash said. DM Shirsat Kapil Ashok has constituted a committee of three senior officials to probe the fire.
