2 kids die in hut fire

Vadodara: Two children died in the Jalai village of Fatepura taluka of Dahod district after the hut in which they were sleeping went up in flames. The bodies were sent for an autopsy even as the police started investigations.
They were present at their home with their paternal grandmother Kabutari Parghi. It was the grandmother who informed the police about the incident. She told police that two-year-old Bhavana and nine-month-old Popat were sleeping when she went to fetch water for their cattle. She claimed that when she was away from the dwelling, it caught fire.
Parghi raised an alarm after which a water tanker that had come to a nearby area for a wedding was rushed there and the fire was doused. The children were dead by this time. Policemen too rushed to the location in wake of the incident.
According to sources, the father of the deceased children Anil Parghi had gone out of the village for labour work. His marriage with the mother of the two children had ended in a divorce and she did not stay with him. Anil’s mother took care of the children. TNN
