KOLKATA: A fire broke out on Tuesday morning at a café located on the third floor of Park Centre, situated at the intersection of Park Street and Camac Street, in close proximity to Allen’s Park.
The inferno commenced around 10.35 am at the rooftop café, which is housed within the edifice. Thus far, no fatalities or injuries have been reported.
A total of 14 fire tenders are diligently engaged in combating the blaze. A disaster management team is endeavoring to ascertain if any individuals are entrapped within the structure.
The flow of traffic was closely regulated on sections of Park Street and Camac Street. Priyabrata Roy, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Division) of the Calcutta Police, affirmed that the building was unoccupied when the conflagration ignited.
As a precautionary measure, neighboring buildings were evacuated, and cooking cylinders from within the restaurant were swiftly removed from the vicinity of the flames to prevent further escalation of damage. The incident led to panic among office goers who assembled on the road waiting for clearances from the police and fire brigade.
