Updated: 2024-07-08
Ludhiana: A fire incident was reported from the open yard of an industrial unit in Bhattian village on the Kohara-Machhiwara road during Sunday afternoon. The raw material for yarn stored there was damaged. Police reports suggest that the cause of the fire in unit number 2 of Shiva Techfab was not yet known.
Shiv Kumar, manager of the factory, said that men had been working as usual in the yarn factory when the bundles of plastic bottles from which yarn was prepared caught fire all of a sudden.
As per reports, the fire took a terrible shape and fire brigade vehicles had to be called from Samrala, Khanna, and Ludhiana. After about four hours of struggle, the fire was brought under control by the tenders, but even after that, the destroyed material and plastic bundles continued to smoulder.
Local sources claim that when the fire broke out, hundreds of workers were inside the mill, but since the fire happened in an open yard, there was no loss of life in this accident. Meanwhile, as soon as the incident was reported, the cops from the Machhiwara police also reached the spot. Machhiwara SHO Bhinder Singh said the fire seemed to have occurred naturally. He added that the factory officials were yet to share the loss report.
Sources in the factory claimed that factory sufferedmajor loss of its raw material for yarn.
