Fire hits center in Baguio; damage pegged at over P11M

A fire broke out early morning on July 16, 2024 at the Maharlika Livelihood Center in Baguio City with damage estimated to reach over P11 million.
Eight fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire that reached the third alarm. The fire was put out after almost three hours.
The blaze reportedly started at the parking area on the third floor of the building.
”Ang point of origin niya ay sa may third floor iyong parking area ng Maharlika Livelihood Building.” SFO2 James Rey Agnad, Fire Investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Baguio City, said.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, as of this writing.
The areas affected include the parking space on the third floor and several stalls within the building.
The city government is coordinating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) to provide possible assistance to the business owners affected.
“Ayon sa ating Office of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, puwedeng makatanggap ng P6,000 to P10,000 ang mga effected depende sa magiging assessment,” Aileen Refuerzo from PIO-Baguio City, said.
