Fire breaks out at washing plant in Gazipur’s Tongi

The Abedin Washing Plant in the BSCIC area of Gazipur’s Tongi has caught on fire.
The fire broke out around 10:30pm on Monday, local resident Palash Mondal said.
“The fire broke out and went out of control quickly. Locals called the Tongi Fire Service after seeing the factory burning. Later, three units of firefighters from the Tongi Fire Service went to the scene and brought the fire under control around 1am,” he said.
The firefighters of three units went to the scene when the incident was reported and brought the fire under control after about three hours of effort, said Senior Station Officer Abu Md Sajjadul Kabir Joardar.
“The factory was closed. There are questions about whether someone torched it,” said Kaniza Rahman, the owner of the washing plant.
The damage caused by the fire amounted to more than Tk 20 million, she said.
