Updated: 2024-10-05
THANE:A major fire broke out at a large warehouse called V Logistics in Bhiwandi in the early hours of Saturday.
The warehouse covers approximately 1,25,000 square feet and contains various goods, including hydraulic oil, clothes, plastics, paper, and some chemical materials.
The fire officials stated that the fire is so extensive that it may take until tonight to control. The fire occurred when the warehouse was closed, so no casualties have been reported.
The fire incident took place on Saturday at Valshind village, located in Bhiwandi on the Mumbai-Nashik highway, at around 4:30 am in one section of V Logistics, which later spread throughout the entire warehouse.
The fire was so massive that its smoke was visible from around 15 kilometres away. To control the fire, fire teams from Bhiwandi, Kalyan, and Thane rushed to the spot and are trying to control the blaze.
Rajesh Pawar, chief fire officer from the Bhiwandi fire brigade, said, “The warehouse is spread over thousands of acres and contains many materials, including oils, paper, chemicals, and clothes. Our team, with the help of the fire teams from Kalyan and Thane, is trying to control the fire, but it may take the whole day to douse it.”
