Worker dies in fire at bus coach workshop

Karur: A 42-year-old worker was killed in a fire at a private bus coach workshop in Thanthonimalai, Karur, on Thursday evening. Police identified the deceased as Ravichandran, a resident of Sellandipatti village near Karur. The incident occurred around 5 pm while approximately 50 workers were engaged in final assembly tasks for a new bus. Sparks from welding work reportedly ignited a section of the workshop, causing a fire. While some workers managed to escape, Ravichandran was trapped and suffered severe burn injuries. Fire service personnel from Karur arrived promptly and extinguished the blaze within an hour. However, Ravichandran succumbed to his injuries. His body was sent to Karur Government Hospital for postmortem. Thanthonimalai police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
