Phetchaburi dump blaze defies rains

A fire that broke out at a privately owned dump in Phetchaburi’s Tha Yang district on Wednesday continued to burn yesterday.
Firefighters battled the blaze in tambon Tha Laeng yesterday after it continued to defy Friday night’s rain.
The dump’s caretaker, who asked not to be named, claimed a rival business group might have started the fire.
Tha Yang district chief Paiboon Yimyaem ordered a review of the dump’s status to see if it was legal.
