Fire ravages helmet factory
Updated: 2014-06-28-19:51
One person died and six others were injured in a fire that swept through a helmet factory in Kalideres, West Jakarta, at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
The victims were all employees of the factory.
Kalideres Police chief Comr. Darmawan Karo said the police suspected that sparks coming from the paint machine’s chimney had caused the fire.
“It then spread to the whole factory,” he said as reported by tribunnews.com.
The West Jakarta Fire Department deployed 17 fire trucks and extinguished the fire by 9:30 a.m.
“We cannot estimate the factory’s losses because we are still investigating the case,” he said.
The injured are being treated at Hermina hospital in West Jakarta.(fss)
