Sisters Hurt In House Fire

IPOH, July 21 (Bernama) — Two siblings were injured in a fire which destroyed their wooden house at Taman Sungkai, near Sungkai here, early Monday.
Bidor Fire and Rescue Senior Assistant Superintendent A.Ravi said sisters Nur Suzalihatul Fiona Zaipulah Amar, 14, and Nur Nilanina, 15, were injured on the arms and legs while trying to escape from the burning house in the fire which broke out at 12.13 am.
“There were eight people in the house, including three Pakistani nationals who were living in an adjoining rented building. All of them managed to escape,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
He said an engine with eight firemen rushed to the scene, but found 80 per cent of the house gutted when they arrived and efforts were made to control the fire from spreading.
The cause of the fire was being investigated, he said, adding that losses in the fire was estimated at RM45,000.
