Billion-baht fire in Samut Prakan

Smoke continued to billow above the warehouse for several hours.
A fire has destroyed a large warehouse for storing plastic pellets at the Bangpoo Industrial Estate in Praekkasa sub-district of Muang Samut Prakan district, Samut Prakan.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, but the warehouse of Bangpoo Intermodal Systems Co (Bisco) has been completely destroyed.
The fire reportedly started about 8.30am .
As all doors of the warehouse were open, the fire quickly spread throughout the building and its steel structure then caved in.
Containers of chemical fluids were reportedly also kept in the warehouse and the sounds of explosions were heard at times during the blaze.
Bisco managing director Nat Phothisoonthorn said later the 7,500-square-metre warehouse kept chemical and plastic products. The fire started at its cold room when 110 staff were at work. They were unable to contain the fire and were evacuated . All were safe.
He said that initial damage was estimated at one billion baht.
The fire sent huge plumes of smoke billowing in the air.
