15-hour fire razes Laguna warehouse
Updated: 2014-10-15-09:33
At least one firefighter was injured as a fire that lasted more than half a day razed a warehouse in Laguna province.
The fire started at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Malitlit in Sta. Rosa City, GMA News’ Dante Perello reported Wednesday on GMA News’ Unang Balita.
Firefighters could not immediately put out the fire as the warehouse contained flammable materials including paints, solvents and other chemicals.
One firefighter was rushed to a hospital after sustaining injuries, the same report said.
As of 6 a.m., the fire was considered under control, but firefighters placed at least one fire truck on standby.
An initial investigation showed the fire razed a large area – about 600 square meters.
Not even the heavy rain could help put out the fire. It was only when firefighters used chemical foam that the fire started to weaken.
The report said the site of the fire was far from residential areas.
