Fire breaks out in Sector 7 bank
Updated: 2014-10-25-04:12
A fire broke out in Union Bank of India’s Sector 7 branch early on Friday morning. No one was injured in the incident, but documents and furniture were gutted. Though the exact cause of the blaze is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that short-circuit might have triggered it.
After the municipal corporation (MC) fire wing received a call around 6.30am, three fire tenders and over six firemen reached the spot and doused the flames in about an hour. “Computers, cabins, furniture and documents were gutted. It seems short-circuit caused the blaze,” said M L Sharma, station fire officer of MC.
“By the time we received the information, fire had engulfed the entire bank. Thick smoke made our job difficult,” said a fire official.
