5 killed in separate Manila, Makati fires

Around five people were killed, while more than 100 families were made homeless in separate fires in Manila and Makati Cities Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
In Manila, a woman and her three children were killed in a residential area fire in Binondo, Manila fire marshal Maj. Crispo Diaz told radio dzBB’s Henry Herdillo early Sunday.
The family’s patriarch was working, driving his pedicab, at the time the fire hit.
The fire started 10:56 p.m. Saturday along Valderama Street. A condemned building and 60 makeshift houses were razed, leaving 100 families homeless.
The fire was put out at 1:26 a.m.
Arson investigators estimated the property damage at P500,000.
