Fire razes 4 longhouse units in Cheras

Four of the eight units of longhouses at Block 7, Jalan Ikan Emas, Cheras, here, were destroyed in a fire early yesterday morning.
In the 6am incident, swift action by teams from the Bandar Tun Razak, Pudu and Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue stations managed to save four other units in the same row.
Senior Fire Officer II from the Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue station Ramli Omar said they received a call at 6.16am and arrived at the scene nine minutes later.
“A total of 27 personnel, including an officer with three machines and a tanker rushed to the scene.
“When we got there the fire was still raging, it was brought under control 13 minutes later and completely extinguished by 7.40am,” he said when contacted by Bernama, here.
Ramli said there were no casualties reported in the fire that destroyed nearly 90 per cent of the housing units.
The cause of the fire and estimated loss are still being investigated.
