Gaibandha Hindu temple destroyed in fire, sabotage suspected

A Hindu temple in Gaibandha town has been destroyed in fire.
Local Hindu community allege Saturday’s fire at Loknath Mandir located on the Kalibarhi temple premises was an act of sabotage.
Firefighters later doused the flames but by then the thatched temple was gutted and articles used for worshiping too were destroyed.
Police say they are investigating into the incident.
Gaibandha Puja Udjapon Committee general secretary Sujon Prasad said the Loknath Mandir was built around 12 years ago.
“Someone had intentionally set the temple on fire,” he alleged.
Gaibandha’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Abu Bakar Siddique said an investigation committee would be formed to probe the incident.
