In Manila, a fire believed caused by a candle left unattended at a wake destroyed houses in three barangays in the Parola Compound in Tondo, radio dzBB’s Roland Bola reported.
The fire started at 1:23 a.m. and spread quickly as the houses were made of light materials and bunched tightly together.
A report by dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz said one person was killed in the fire.
The fire reached the general alarm as of 1:53 a.m., GMA News’ Vonne Aquino tweeted.

It was placed under control as of 4 a.m. Arson investigators are still determining how many houses were razed in the fire.
